Yesterday, Saturday, we erected and activated our second tower (in a single day!). Along the way we learned some important lessons about radio placement and proximity interference, but all is well now. We are turning up a few beta customers while we work out all the foibles of running a radio based network. It’s a challenge and very interesting. Stay tuned, we are scheduled to bring up Alamo Tower Three in 7 days, followed by Alamo Tower Four one week after that!

At long long last, we are operational. Alamo Tower One is complete, radios are in place, network is up and running! We are now scheduling installs within our beta test area.

Alamo Tower One is now complete as of yesterday morning. The radios will be installed over the next few days and then our beta service will commence. Beta customers, we will be calling you soon to start your service!

Yesterday, Alamo tower 2 foundation was poured. Construction of Alamo tower 1 began and we raised our first section of tower. Expect to finish Alamo tower 1 this week and Alamo tower 2 next week. Then the real fun begins, lighting them up!

Yesterday alamo tower number one foundation was poured. We’ll be erecting the tower in the next few days and hanging the radios. It’s a big step. One that has taken a long time.

Things are starting to move along. We have completed our site surveys and we are soon going to go live with our beta test network. It’s been an interesting process, gathering information, planning coverage areas, learning about the differences between wired and wireless services. We have extensive experience with voice, data and security (and a whole lot more) in the wired world. Wireless adds a new dimension. It’s not rocket science, but it’s not trivial either.

Things have changed on the ‘Net since we first got involved. The ‘Net is always evolving and the ways people use the ‘Net evolve as well. Nowadays there is a lot of video streaming (Netflix and others), gaming (Xbox, WII), voice (VOIP, etc) and these protocols sometimes present challenges when designing a carrier class network. P2P file sharing and other programs also contribute to making life “interesting”. Each of these opportunities must be met with the best solution possible while maintaining the lowest cost, most reliable network. We have the expertise and experience to do so.
